Our Epoxy Flooring Installation Services

New Floor Installation

If you’re looking to get started with epoxy and think it may be the right flooring type for you, we can help evaluate your space and install a brand new epoxy floor, including preparing the surface for proper adhesion.

Existing Floor Repair & Refinishing

If you already have an epoxy floor or cement floor, we can complete the repairs needed with sanding & grinding, do more in-depth repairs like concrete scarifying to smooth out the space for a new epoxy surface, or repair the existing epoxy floors.

Existing Floor Recoating

If your epoxy floor is in decent shape and doesn’t require repairs, but needs a new layer (recoating), we can prep the floor surface to maximize the effectiveness of the new layer, and make sure your recoated floor is even stronger than before.

Epoxy Floor Installation Process

Epoxy floor installation has 4 typical stages:

  1. Patching

If the floor surface has any large cracks or holes, patches are applied to ensure a smooth application. Small cracks are fine, as they will normally be filled when the epoxy is applied.

  2. Grinding

To ensure the epoxy adheres properly, we diamond grind the floor surface to open the pores and remove remnants of the previous coating. This step can’t level the floor or fix massive damages.

  3. Vacuuming

We completely clear the surface of any dust and debris with industrial vacuums to ensure nothing is trapped between the floor surface and the epoxy during application (which ensures a smoother finish).

  4. Epoxy Application

Finally, we apply 2 coats of 100% solid, commercial-grade epoxy to the floor surface with rollers and squeegees. The surface then needs to cure for 24-48 hours before it can be used again.

Epoxy Floor Benefits & Features

Speedy Installation

Reduce Your Downtime & Get Back to What Matters

Most epoxy applications will only take 1-2 days to install, require 24 hours to dry before normal foot traffic can resume, and then 48 hours before heavy machinery can be used on the floors. Your downtime will be minimal compared to other flooring solutions of comparable quality.

Epoxy floor with a lot of foot traffic

Great Lifespan & Durability

Low-Maintenance, But Long-Lasting

Epoxy floors are extremely durable and will last for years with very little maintenance (other than regular cleaning), as long as the epoxy was applied properly (by an expert). Epoxy is one of the longest-lasting flooring options available, and will hold up much better to regular wear and tear than other flooring options.

Epoxy floor recently cleaned

Dust & Moisture-Resistant

Keep Your Space Clean

Epoxy significantly reduces the amount of dust that can accumulate on the surface, and because it’s non-porous, prevents damage from spills, as well as accumulation from mold, mildew, or bacteria. It’s a great option for areas that need to remain clean or uphold industry cleaning standards.

Epoxy floor with no scuffs compared to concrete floor

Stronger, & Harder to Damage

Doesn’t Show Scuffs & Scratches

Unlike other flooring types, epoxy is naturally strong, and is difficult to damage or scuff up. The floor surface will remain glossy and clear for years, looking like new. It also won’t be prone to chips, dents, scratches, or scuff marks - all without any maintenance other than regular cleaning.

Anti-slip epoxy surface

Anti-Slip Surface

Create a Safer Environment

If your floor gets regular foot traffic from customers or employees, you want to make sure the surface isn’t slippery or conducive to accidents. We have a variety of slip reduction methods that can be applied to the coating and creates a nice grippable surface, which is great if you have a lot of people walking through the space on a regular basis.

Colour & Design Options

Improve Aesthetics or Reinforce Safety

With epoxy, you have a number of colour options for the surface, and you can add a flaked finish if you like to improve the overall look of your space. We can also add safety lines or decorative stickers on the surface to reinforce your safety protocols or show off your branding.

How to Choose an Epoxy Floor Installer

An epoxy floor installer should have liability insurance for the project to protect you in case anything goes wrong, and they should have testimonials and reviews (especially photos) of completed epoxy projects to demonstrate the quality of their work.

A good epoxy floor contractor should have a mastery of multiple flooring materials and options so they can make recommendations about your specific project. They should be able to assess if repair work is needed to the surface before pouring epoxy, and evaluate whether epoxy is even the right choice for you (or if polished concrete for example might be better).

The epoxy expert should be able to offer a quote on the work before you get started, and should ask appropriate questions to give you the best estimate - such as the square footage, state of the floor surface, if there are any damages?, etc. - to provide you with a more accurate price range.

Epoxy Floor Installation Costs

Top 5 factors that affect epoxy installation cost

The cost of epoxy installation depends on a few factors related to the state of your flooring surface prior to the installation, as well as what kind of finish and final look you’re going for.

The biggest factors that affect the cost of an epoxy installation are:

  1. Is there floor damage? If you want epoxy on a cement surface that’s damaged with lots of holes and is unlevel, fixing those issues first is essential, but will likely increase the price.
  2. How big is the space? The amount of patching, floor repair, grinding, and vacuuming we need to do to prepare the surface is often the biggest cost for each project (so beward contractors who offer ultra-low rates, but haven’t included this in their quotes).
  3. How do you want it to aesthetically appear? Choosing certain colours or to add decorative flakes could increase the overall cost.
  4. Do you need coving or extra thickness? Adding coving or additional coats to increase the thickness of the surface will take more time and materials.
  5. Are you on a strict timeline? Requiring overtime hours or to work outside of business hours is possible for us to meet extreme installation timelines, but it can increase the overall cost as well.

Is epoxy floor installation expensive?

Epoxy floor installation cost depends on a number of factors, but typically is still within the same range as other flooring solutions - and can sometimes even be cheaper. Often, epoxy comes with a slightly larger upfront expense, but with much lower long-term costs than other flooring types, as it lasts longer, and requires very little maintenance.

Roughly, what does an epoxy floor installation cost per square foot?

The typical cost of epoxy floor installation starts around $5 per square foot, but each project is unique, and there are many variables that can affect the overall price, and sometimes, the cost per square foot can be lower if the amount of square footage is higher, and the floor underneath is in decent condition.

What Areas Are Best for Epoxy Floors?

Epoxy Floor Installation FAQs

Epoxy is a resin coating popular in commercial areas like kitchens, factories, warehouses, big box retailers, and other large square footage or niche areas because it is durable, strong, long-lasting, and can withstand a lot of foot traffic and wear and tear without deteriorating quickly. It’s often more economical in large areas because its total cost over time and lack of need for maintenance help save building owners and managers a lot in the long run.

Yes, our epoxy application experts are certified under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and under our $2 million liability insurance coverage.

If you answer “Yes” to any of the following questions, epoxy is probably the right choice for your space:

  • Your area has a lot of square footage
  • You have multiple large buildings / spaces you need flooring for (like a chain)
  • You can foot an upfront cost for long-term savings
  • You have mechanical / electrical appliances inside (like a factory) and want a non-conductive surface
  • You want to be able to choose the colour and / or a flaked option
  • You want a smooth / shiny surface
  • You have a lot of employees or customers coming in and out or walking on the floor constantly
  • You have heavy machinery or appliances (like a forklift) running over the surface
  • You need an easy-to-clean option because you need to uphold industry standards or regulations
  • You work with chemicals or harsh products that could contaminate porous surfaces
  • You want to put custom safety markings on the floor for your internal protocols
  • You work in an area where liquids spill and could create a slippery surface

An epoxy installation usually is done in one day, though this depends on the total size of the area, and what state the base surface is in (and whether it requires repairs, which often take the most time). After that, you will need to wait 24 hours until you can use the surface again at all, and 48 hours before you place anything heavy on the surface (like shelving or machinery).
